My favorite parties are the kind you can show up with your hair in a ponytail, potatoes smeared on your shoulder from feeding your infant earlier that day, and shoes are optional. Lately those are the only parties we attend – and they are usually in the form of a potluck, BYOB, “show up whenever” kind of shin-dig.
Once upon a time my husband and I were living in Washington, DC and had a fabulous social life of wining and dining, hosting couples’ dinner parties, and work travel that took me to the best hotels, restaurants, and bars. It was a time when high heels were my only form of footwear, makeup was never optional, and taking a shower wasn’t a luxury, it was the norm.
It’s funny how babies change all that. And yet, everything in life is better and richer, despite being smelly, stained, tired, frumpy, and simple. But when we have the opportunity to meet up with good friends and bring a dish to share, admittedly I want to show off just a ‘lil. Maybe attempt to be fancy once again. I figure it’s like riding a bike and naturally comes back.
All you need are hard-boiled eggs, a package of smoked salmon, avocado, cilantro, and homemade paleo mayo.
Nothing is easier, prettier or more impressive than these smoked salmon avocado deviled eggs. I mean seriously, this food is pretty. The combo of flavors smack you along side the head just like little flailing hands during a tantrum. I love the deep flavor of smoked salmon combined with the light and refreshing taste of cilantro and avocado. Out of smoked salmon? No problem. I am positive that shrimp would be delightful, as would a delicate pile of crab meat. You could probably put toilet paper on these puppies and they would still taste good. So feel free to mix it up to your liking.
These deviled eggs are perfect for a healthy, light lunch so be sure to double or even triple the recipe for leftovers. Plus, they are Paleo, Whole30 compliant, low-carb and gluten-free!
So next time bring these finger foods to share and when you receive tons and tons of praise, just wave that once perfectly manicured hand and say, “oh it was nothing” while secretly giving yourself mad props for a job well done! And while you’re at it, post a picture or two in Instagram and tag me @physicalkitchness.
Time Saver Tip
Hard boil a batch of eggs to have on hand at the beginning of the week for power snacks and to cut on prep time when creating these smoked salmon avocado deviled eggs. I also make homemade mayo to have on hand to use here, and for an addition to easy, quick lunches like tuna salad, chicken salad, and turkey wraps.

Thank you Heather. Yes, the flavors are all so unique but work so well together. I appreciate you stopping by!
These look AMAZING! I never would’ve thought to add smoked salmon to deviled eggs. It sounds so luxurious and fancy! Totally making these in the future!
Thank you Evi. I try to pretend I’m luxurious and fancy but I’m really not. But at least the food is! I appreciate you stopping by!
DROOLING right now! This looks amazing! Great blog 🙂
Thank you so much Julie!
Haha I love this, I am totally going through the same ‘party scene’ as you right now….I showed up to a potluck on Saturday night with avocado on my dress because it was taking me that long to get the kids out the door, there was no way I was going back in to get changed once I noticed it! These sound absolutely delicious, and perfect for a gathering of friends!
Oh messy, frazzled momma can we be friends?! I totally get it! You are welcome to come to my house anytime, stained and all! 😉
That looks delicious! I might add some green onions for crunch.
Oh that sounds yummy! Great idea Nikki. Thanks!
These sound DELIGHTFUL. I will definitely be pinning these for the next time we have a dinner party. And by dinner party I mean a casual get-together where yoga pants are the only acceptable option.
Thank you Ashley! Let me know when you have your next spandex-only dinner party and I’ll be there!
I absolutely love smoked salmon but never would have thought to add them to a deviled egg – what a great idea! These look like the perfect appetizer to bring to a party. Pinning!
Thank you Joanie. I hope you impress everyone at your next shin-dig!
Delicious! I love deviled eggs, this one is a must try.
I bet if you already love deviled eggs, you might become obsessed with these! Thanks for stopping by Ros!
Ok so I don’t normally like raw fish (only if it’s deep fried rolled in rice). But I think I started drooling when I saw these. Homemade mayo, avocado and eggs? Swoon. Def pinning this for the next “shin-dig” I attend.
Um also, question – I still like attending parties with a ponytail, food splatter on my clothes, and no shoes. But I don’t have kids. Acceptable?
Ummm TOTES acceptable (I don’t judge). I’m tellin’ ya, I look like a hot mess 99.9% of the time, so we would be perfect dinner party companions! Thanks so much Megan!
I know a lot of people who would love these at parties! Thanks for linking up with best of the blogosphere.
My pleasure Kendra. Thanks for hosting!
